About the event
Last week, Harvard University resoundingly rejected and condemned the Trump administration’s demands to dismantle its diversity programs, limit student protests, and submit to far-reaching federal audits in exchange for its federal funding. This move, a stark contrast to Columbia’s response last month, prompted the Trump administration to immediately freeze over $2.2 billion in grants to Harvard.
Stanford President Jon Levin and Provost Jenny Martinez have since released a statement in support of Harvard, characterizing its response as “rooted in the American tradition of liberty, a tradition essential to our country’s universities, and worth defending.”
Join the Stanford Political Union this Wednesday, April 23rd at 8pm in 200-107 to discuss how these developments implicate academic freedom, institutional neutrality, and the future of American universities.
